"Slow tourism"

Why does Something Good Dominicana believe in "slow tourism"?

I first visited the Dominican Republic nine years ago and immediately fell in love with the diverse beauty of the landscape and was captivated by the directness, love of life and cheerfulness of the people.

Since then, I have visited several times until 2021, when my family and I decided to leave our home life and move to this paradise. We founded our tourism company Something Good Dominicana to guide visitors to the most special and beautiful places.

A difficult beginning

But building a whole new life was not as easy as I had first imagined. It was full of pitfalls, losses and disappointments. But that is also why there was a huge opportunity for learning and growth. It tested my self-awareness as well as my knowledge of people, my faith, my perseverance, my human relationships. I have acquired many new skills and abilities.

In the meantime, I made countless new acquaintances and friendships, got to know the Dominican people and their culture better, and gained an insight into their lives and customs.

I have also come face to face with the problems and difficulties they face in their daily lives. The social, economic, political and environmental issues they face.

Slow tourism as a value

I see more and more tourists choosing the Dominican Republic as their destination every year, which gives me great pleasure, but also makes me feel more and more responsible for finding the right balance between protecting the environment and tourism. That is why we want to promote environmental awareness and responsible thinking.

I see it as an important objective to build on local communities, to support culture and local businesses in our work.

Fortunately, more and more visitors want to get to know the country and its people better, as well as for fun and relaxation, which is one of the main objectives of slow tourism.

Remember, if we travel with our eyes and hearts open, we can learn a lot about ourselves and the world.

We can learn new ways of seeing, become more tolerant and open-minded!

Let us pass on this feeling and these experiences on our trips and tours!

We welcome you!
